We have put together some programs that we believe will give our members and members of the Legal Magnates & Company the full complement of benefits necessary for academic, intellectual and career growth as well as the release of potentials.

Annual Rendezvous – “HangOut”

Annual Rendezvous popularly known among our members as “HangOut” and established under the auspices of the Legal Magnates International Foundation is an annual social get-together aimed at facilitating social interaction and professional networking among members.

Every year in December, we hangout somewhere in the city of Lagos. In December 2024 and 2025, we hung out at Dr. Oluyomi Abayomi Finnih Recreational Park, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos State. Plans are currently underway to hold this annual rendezvous not just in Lagos, but also in Abuja, Enugu, and Delta in the coming years. Additional States will be added as circumstances demand. It is expected that the HangOut will be conducted in each of the 36 States of the Nigerian Federation and the FCT in due course.

Establishment of the LMC

One of the Foundation’s objectives is the establishment of the Legal Magnates & Company in universities. The Foundation has a vision of establishing a chapter of the Legal Magnates & Company in every university in the world. The process for establishing the Legal Magnates and Company in universities may take an informal approach or high-level formal seminar or symposium which the Foundation will organize in these universities.

Supervision of the LMC

Legal Magnates & Company is supervised generally by the Legal Magnates International Foundation through the National Coordinator. However, the university chapters of the Legal Magnates & Company have Staff Advisers, Patrons and Life Patrons as well as Magnates International (Alumni) who also lend supervisory support to the university chapters.

Clinical Legal Education

Law students cannot read law in theory alone. A more balanced approach to legal education involves both the substantive (theory) and procedural (practical, experiential or clinical) aspects. While we believe that most law school curricula focus on the substantive approach to legal education, our seminars, lectures, and excursions, oratory/debate and moot competitions organized by the Legal Magnates International Limited offer students the benefits of a qualitative clinical approach to learning the law. Law students have the first-hand opportunity of practical legal knowledge from our interactive sessions with senior members of the bar and the bench.

Annual Legal Summit

Since 2004, the Legal Magnates & Company has been organizing an annual Legal Summit. The responsibility for the supervision of the organization of the annual Legal Summit is now on the Legal Magnates International Foundation and the Legal Magnates International Limited.

The Legal Summit is a week-long program in a designated State or city in Nigeria. This is a time of active engagements with senior lawyers and some of the finest judges in the country. There is also a window for connecting with politicians and having the opportunity of asking questions on the state of our union as a country. The Legal Summit also encourages social and extra-curricular activities. Apart from Olabisi Onabanjo University, there are chapters of the Legal Magnates & Company at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology in Enugu State, and at Edwin Clark University, Delta State. The Legal Summit is a gathering of law students who are members of the Legal Magnates & Company in these universities. Those who are not members are also welcomed to participate in this Summit subject to the payment of a differential fee. Also, members of the Foundation and any interested lawyers may also participate in the Summit subject, of course, to the payment of the applicable fees.

We intend, by the annual organization of the Legal Summit, to travel round the Federation of Nigeria within the next 20 years. Nigeria has 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (“FCT”). The idea of the Legal Summit is that it would be held annually in one of the 36 States or the FCT. Over the last 21 years, the Legal Summit has been organized in 15 States and the FCT. Our 16th Legal Summit will be held in the beautiful city of Awka, Anambra State this year leaving us with a remainder of 20 more States to cover hopefully within the next 20 years. The 2020 Legal Summit tagged “A Bold Future” which was expected to be held in the city of Kano, Kano State, Nigeria was suspended till further notice because of the outbreak of COVID-19 and political instability.

After four years hiatus, the Legal Summit resumed and was held in the city of Ibadan, Oyo State, South-West Nigeria from May 6 – 11, 2024. The theme of the Summit was “Endless Possibilities”.

Our 2025 Legal Summit was held in the cities of Warri and Asaba, Delta State, South-South Nigeria, and it was themed “Building A Bright Future”. It was held from May 11 – 17, 2025. Our next Legal Summit for the year 2026 was decided to be held in the beautiful city of Kano, Kano State, North-West Nigeria. For logistics reasons, however, going to Kano this year looks impracticable. The Legal Summit train for 2026 has therefore been rerouted to Awka, Anambra State, South-East Nigeria. Legal Summit 2027 is expected to be held in Kano State – all things being equal. Details about Legal Summit will be posted here in due course.
